Colorado Rapids Kits with All 1,451 Season-Ticket Holder Names

bunkercollective:

Bunker is from Portland. We are unequivocally Portland Timbers fans. Absolute RCTID. But we are in love with the primary Colorado Rapids kits for the 2013 MLS season.

Colorado Rapids 2013 kit

The jersey for that kit sports thick bands around the trunk comprising the names of all 1,451 season-ticket holders. What an absolutely delightful expression of gratitude from a team to its fans.

If you believe in the power of collective energy and the laws of quantum physics, you might say the Rapids now have what they need to win the 2013/2014 title. But then again, they do need to get past the Timbers to make that happen. And we have our own collective energy.

Maybe it’s because I’m a dedicated Portland Timbers fan. Maybe it’s because soccer is like crack for me. Whatever the reason, I sure do like Timbers videos. And this newest one is super awesome. It’s inspiring and makes me wish I was at a Timbers game right now. They’re calling it “Timbers Anthem” and it showcases match day from the perspectives of fans, Darlington Nagbe, and others.

I love me some Timbers marketing. Especially the awesome John Spencer commercial for Alaskan Airlines. And the Portland Timbers are currently running a series called Off Pitch with Hermes, a collection of interviews and funny bits with ex-Timbers-Army “Capital” Hermes. The series is a little strange, as is Hermes. But it’s entertaining if you’re a Timbers fan.

This particular episode, however, is less silly and more serious (save for the awesome “commercial” in the middle). It explores the origin of why the entire stadium sings the song You Are My Sunshine in the 80th minute of every game.

Apparently another ex-Timbers-Army leader, Timber Jim, was grieving over the loss of his daughter, Hannah, and decided to sing the song which was her favorite. Then at that moment the Timbers scored a goal. And now it’s tradition. What an amazing story.

This Alaskan Airlines commercial is spectacular. I literally laughed out loud (that’s “LOL” for the kids out there) at John Spencer bossing around air passengers with his Scottish brogue. Speaking of which, following are a couple translations for you in case you’re as confused by heavy Scottish accents as Siri

  1. Haggis traps: slang for mouths (obviously) originating from traditional Scottish, sheep-organ sausage.
  2. Right prat: simply an idiot.

I’ve been blathering a lot about Portland Timbers marketing lately. This happens to be an Alaskan Airlines commercial, but it still features the Timbers and it’s quite funny.

The Portland Timbers are a soccer force to be reckoned with this year, especially with the arrival of Scottish Premier League’s all-time scoring leader Kris Boyd. And off the pitch they are equally powerful with unique marketing and promotional ventures.

While this video isn’t a Timbers marketing venture, it does serve the purpose of getting Portland soccer fans fired up. This is the pre-game video played at JELD-WEN Field just before the team hits the pitch. It’s an electrifying opener and I especially love the slow-motion clips of Timber Joey.

This Portlandia trailer is blissfully awesome because:

  1. I am a Portland Timbers fan
  2. I live in Portland
  3. I am a creative professional with years of experience with clients
  4. I said so
